This adaptive reuse project reimagines the heritage-listed “Merivale Flats,” a functionalist apartment building constructed in 1938 by architects Chambers and Ford. Located in South Brisbane, this three-storey brick building originally featured eight self-contained flats and two ground-floor shops. The conversion transforms the building into a mixed-use development, incorporating retail, hospitality, and office spaces across three levels. The project includes the addition of an external terrace fronting Fish Lane, situated above the building’s original air raid shelter. The development honours the site’s historical significance while adapting it to meet contemporary needs.
