Alterations and additions to a 1930s Old English-style house in an inner-city Brisbane suburb, extending the home to accommodate contemporary family life while preserving its original character. The project introduces a new two-storey extension comprising additional living areas and bedrooms.

Constructed in masonry, the new living spaces are designed to feel like open-air garden rooms, with thresholds carefully detailed to conceal the presence of door systems. The additions are a quiet yet robust counterpoint to the original house, supporting a more generous and connected way of living while honouring the home’s architectural heritage.
